14 teams Revisited Rabbit Hash in June. Everyone finished; nobody seemed to get lost – at least not hopelessly; and FOUR – count ‘em – Four teams completed the BEAUTIFUL course with zero points. Winners were Gordon & Teresa Benson, Dick & Paul Krehbiel, Scott, Reghan & Amy Bitzer and Brittany Moore & Hannah Poston. Following closely behind with a 1/2 point deduction (“The” is part of the sign) were Gary & Brigitte Spicer. A huge thank you to Rally Master Lee Grimes, and to Jerry Cabe & Colleen Cabe for tag teaming on the Safety Steward duties. Their help allowed me to navigate for Tim Silver – a very exciting ride in his MGB.

Our next rally date is July 22. There was no Rally Master lined up for this one and I was concerned about pulling it off in time. Enter my (retired) neighbor and friend of 33 years who did not know of my involvement in the SCCA rally program. He crewed for us a couple times in my previous SCCA (racing) life (before kids) so wondered if I was still involved and if we ever did rallies. Serendipity. We had a meeting tonight to go over some basics and he plans to jump right in and get us set up for the next rally. Thanks, Jim! Registration will be open as soon as I give him some time to determine where to start and end.

There will be an email blast to former participants and a Facebook post to let you know when registration will be open. Please sign up on line whether you want to pay in advance or the day of the event so we’ll have a ballpark idea of how many to expect. Bring some friends, member or not, who haven’t run with us before and save $5 on your registration fee (one discount per new car/driver/navigator unit).

Rabbit Hash Revisited is just around the corner. Get geared up! The next rally is June 17th. Details are being finalized now, but we know we will start around 10AM at the Kroger parking lot near Walton Towne Center, just east of the Walton, KY exit on I-75. It will run about 100 miles through scenic Northern Kentucky and end at Longnecks Sports Grill (same as the June event last year) at the I-275 Hebron exit.

This is a Tulip Rally, with illustrations of intersections as well as worded instructions and callback mileages to keep you on course. Our Rally Master for the event, once again, is Lee Grimes, who knows these roads like the back of his hand. With his familiarity and the abundance of hills and curves that Kentucky offers, this should prove to be an outstanding driving adventure.
