Solo: PE6 Results are up but may need some fixing…

Sunday Results (tentative) are up.

2018 Schedule and Results

As some of you may know, we had a timing computer issue during the third heat and some of the time and penalties are missing/inaccurate. Please review the results posted, and contact us (solo@cincyscca.com) if you find any errors BEFORE SUNDAY 09/13 by end of the day. Please share with your friends who attended our PE6 this weekend as well.

Also the Season Points will be updated once we finalize the PE6 Results. If you find any inacuracy in Season Points, please contact us as well.

Thank you.

Road Race Report

It’s over for this year, and we can collectively breathe a big sigh of relief. And we dig in for next year. As a veteran race worker, but a novice Race Chair, I learned a ton of things that will make things run more smoothly next year. But all-in-all, things ran smoothly, and the few fires were extinguished quickly, with a little help from my friends and terrific workers who adapted well to things out of our control. We got good marks from the stewards and in the Observer’s Report. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you a thing about what happened on track. I can definitely report that were a lot of smiles on the faces of the PDX participants.

A very very BIG thank you to those members of the race committee who regularly attended meetings and made suggestions, to those who made significant financial contributions, and also to those who pitched in at the track to make this event a success. In no particular order, thanks go out to Tony Brown, Bill Niemeyer, Jim Clark, Gordon Benson, Tom Tomlinson, Brian Walker, Brian Rush, EB Lunken, Jim Knepper, Takagi Takuto, and Colleen Cabe. There are countless other people who helped out in various ways with both the race and PDX, and I am probably forgetting to single out many of them. It takes a lot of help to put on an event……and we need more people to make lighter work next year,

Race Committee meetings will continue throughout the year on the second Tuesday of each month. The next one is September 11th, 7 PM, at Rick’s Tavern. 5955 Boymel Drive, Fairfield, OH 45014. Please come, have dinner if you want, review the race and hash out some ideas for next year.

RoadRally Report

The August event, I DIDN’T KNOW THAT!, brought out 11 teams to figure out their destinations and chart the shortest overall distance back to the starting point. Everyone learned something new about Cincinnati, including the Rally Master, Jim Wiles.

The teams of Todd & Jennifer Koerner brought home the victory, with Justine King & Joe Obermeier a very close second, and Gordon & Teresa Benson third, missing out by less than a minute in the tie breaker. The consensus is that this was a fun event and we should do more exploring in future rallies.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN FOR THE OCTOBER 6th EVENT, “The Great Indiana Pumpkin Rally” on 9/22. This will be a more traditional rally and you won’t have to figure out your own route; just follow Gordon’s. I know from experience this is a great drive. Details will follow soon. Check the Facebook page for updates. Visit cincyscca.motorsportreg.com for links to the registration sites for all the Cincinnati Region events. If you need to be paired up with a running partner, let us know and we’ll do our best. Our rallies always end at a location disclosed before you start your drive and is always a family friendly place with food and adult beverages available.

For those new to the sport, Road Rallies are run on public roads at legal (sometimes brisk) speeds on a variety of roads. Route instructions can be challenging but if you are careful you will NOT get lost. Any street licensed vehicle capable of accommodating a driver and a navigator who can communicate safely (so probably not a motorcycle) from a smart car to a pickup truck are eligible and kids are welcome. Penalty points are given for incorrect answers to questions that can be answered by making observations along the route. Low score wins. Awards are presented for each event and points are assigned based on finishing position to determine a series champion.

The schedule as it now stands is as follows:

Date Rally Master
April 14 EB Lunken
May 26 Jim Knepper
June 16 Colleen Cabe
July 21 Lee Grimes
August 25 Jim Wiles
October 6 Gordon Benson
November 3 Jim Knepper

We are always happy to hear any ideas you have for a fun drive. Contact me to volunteer or if you have questions.

RoadRally: Sat. 08/25 “I DIDN’T KNOW THAT!!!! Registration Open

I DIDN’T KNOW THAT!!!! Cincinnati History Rally (Saturday 08/25)

And now for something entirely different. We have not had a road rally like this before. It’s a scavenger hunt of Cincinnati landmarks. You will have to figure out what landmark you need to visit based on information in a clue sheet – and take a picture to prove your presence – and how to get there. You can use any outside help necessary to figure out your route including asking for directions and, perhaps especially, using a “google-able” device. Scoring will be based on the number of destinations you make it to, total mileage, total time, and worthiness of the bribe offerred to the rally master, Jim Wiles. Some parking fees may apply.

Departure will be from Alms Park shortly after the 10:30 safety meeting and distribution of the clue packet, with registration from 9:30 – 10:15. Come back to the park when you have completed your journey and stay for the club picnic, which starts at 3PM. Main course will be provided along with drinks and chips. A side dish to share would be most welcomed and can be left at the park while you travel around town, if desired. Bring outdoor games, if you have any, and socialize with other club members. We did this a couple years ago and, despite the short burst of severe weather that blew through, had a really good time.

Registration is open at cincyscca.motorsportreg.com
