Road Race Report

SAVE THE DATE – for our event, August 2, 3 and 4. Whether you tour, race or volunteer to work, we put on a good show. All are welcome to attend our planning meetings. They are the second Tuesday of the month starting at 7 in our new home, Uno’s Pizzeria, 9246 Schulze Drive, West Chester, OH 45069.

This event is a double Regional/Division points race weekend, with a Track Event on Friday. The Track Event provides the opportunity to any licensed driver to drive their car on the Mid-Ohio track for several 25-minute sessions with coaching from a qualified racer for novices. We are planning an enduro for Saturday (open to ANY vehicle meeting safety requirements) along with the standard SCCA Class competition on Saturday and Sunday.
Registration will open in May. Check cincyscca.com frequently for updates.

RoadRally Report

REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN MONDAY FOR THE RALLY ON APRIL 27.

We will be leaving around 10:30 from Scene75 on Route 28 in Milford. Onsite registration will open at 9. We are a separate event but will be meeting at the same place as the launch point for the Spring Classic Driving Tour. Visit their website for details of their event. http://www.springclassicdrivingtour.org/home.html
Come early to take the opportunity to walk around and see some cool cars.
Our rally will take around 4 hours to complete on some very interesting roads. Cost is $25 per car with a $5 discount if at least one team member is an SCCA member. Final details are being worked out. Check the website soon for additional information. There are 7 rallies scheduled for the 2019 season. Check the website for dates and save the dates!

For those new to the sport, Road Rallies are run on public roads at legal (sometimes brisk) speeds on a variety of roads. Route instructions can be challenging but if you are careful you will NOT get lost. Any street licensed vehicle capable of accommodating a driver and a navigator who can communicate safely (so probably not a motorcycle) from a smart car to a pickup truck are eligible and kids are welcome. Penalty points are given for incorrect answers to questions that can be answered by making observations along the route. Low score wins. Awards are presented for each event and points are assigned based on finishing position to determine a series champion.

We are always happy to hear any ideas you have for a fun drive. Contact me to volunteer or if you have questions.

Solo Report

Wow, it’s that time already, let the Autocross season begin!!!

We had a trailer party at the Dziengel’s homestead and then tested the upgraded equipment at the Pro System Brakes test and next day Test & Tune at Traders World in March. Thank you to Myke, Jo, Ashley, Nicole, Tact, Bryan, Tom, and Glenn for all the help.

Next events:
We start our season with a Joint Test and Tune with Miami (Univ) Motorsports Club on Apr 6 and our Fun Event on Apr 7. Then a couple weeks later we are back with a Starting Line event on Apr 27 and our First Points Event on Apr 28. We are still using MSR and Axware and will still have live timing and FM broadcast at the events. Make sure you register for the events early before they sell out! Link to registration.
For the rest of Events Schedules and the Registration links, Please visit our Schedule/Results Page (http://cincyscca.com/autocross/solo-schedule)

Changes for this season (and THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!):
SCCA made some class changes which we are following, but the biggest changes come in the way we will be doing waivers and passenger requirements. All competitors will still require a waiver and either a full membership or weekend membership. To be a passenger, you must sign a waiver and either have a weekend membership (no cost to just be a passenger) or a full membership. To be in the grid or course areas (hot areas) one must be 12 yrs or older and sign a waiver. Minors under 12 cannot be on grid if they are not entrants and in their heat. Minors require annual waivers to compete like last year, or individual event waivers along with weekend memberships to be a passenger.
Please see the detailed info we released prior.

Lastly, we are looking for others who would like I help us make the events even better – come see one of us and we will hook you up.

Help Needed for Street Survival!

The Tire Rack Street Survival school is designed to equip New Young Drivers with valuable driving skills that will help keep them safe on the road.

The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival program is a hands-on driving experience in real-world situations. We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The Tire Rack Street Survival school is a safe teen driving program, designed to go beyond today’s required driver education and give teens across the U.S. the driving tools and hands-on experience they need to become safer, smarter drivers.

This a school that saves young lives, and they would like CincySCCA Members to help as their instructors.
