Hello Cincy SCCA members!
Spring is just around the corner and we are getting ready to take off again!

We had a great turn-out for our February membership meeting last month at Mac’s Pizza Pub on Wooster Pike. We return for our March Membership Meeting to the MILL RACE BANQUET CENTER (1515 West Sharon Road, Cincinnati, OH 45240) on March 19th at 7pm! Look forward to seeing everyone that can attend for some fun and fellowship as we continue to talk about our upcoming competition events for 2019 and updates from the attendees of the Great Lakes Division SCCA Spring Training meeting.

See you on the 19th!

Thank you,
Tony

Road Rally Report

There were some very exciting ideas that came out of the National Convention this year, and I am looking forward to incorporating some of them in our program this year. We plan to introduce some limited timed sections – not too much calculation, but just a taste. There will be more prizes available and more incentive to bring another team along. The schedule is below along with the Rally Masters who have jumped on their date to set up a course. Spaces are still available but sign up early so you don’t miss your chance to pick your favorite roads.
For those new to the sport, Road Rallies are run on public roads at legal (sometimes brisk) speeds on a variety of roads. Route instructions can be challenging but if you are careful you will NOT get lost. Any street licensed vehicle capable of accommodating a driver and a navigator who can communicate safely (so probably not a motorcycle) from a smart car to a pickup truck are eligible and kids are welcome. Penalty points are given for incorrect answers to questions that can be answered by making observations along the route. Low score wins. Awards are presented for each event and points are assigned based on finishing position to determine a series champion.
The schedule as it now stands is as follows:

Date Rally Master
Apr. 27 EB Lunken
May. 25
Jun. 15 Jim Knepper
Jul. 27 Lee Grimes
Aug. 24
Sept. 28 Gordon Benson
Nov. 02

Race Report

Put your car on the famous Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Any tire, any motor, any class, any suspension. There is a place for you.
As a state licensed driver, you can drive your street car, solo car, or a borrowed car in multiple 25-minute sessions on Friday with an instructor. This year we are adding a vintage group.
As a competition license holder in any race sanctioning organization, you can race your car in the new Sprint Bracket Road Racing group. This is the place for you if you don’t want to follow strict SCCA preparation guidelines, or even if you just want extra seat time. You will be grouped with cars of similar lap times so you will always have wheel to wheel competition opportunities. As long as your car meets minimum SCCA safety standards, you’re good to go.
Save the date for our event, August 2, 3 and 4. Whether you tour, race or volunteer to work, we put on a good show. All are welcome to attend our planning meetings. They are the second Tuesday of the month starting at 7 in our new home, Uno’s Pizzeria, 9246 Schulze Drive, West Chester, OH 45069.
