RoadRally Report

It was a beautiful day Saturday for “Social Distancing: Kentucky Rally Style”.

14 teams came out to enjoy the weather, explore the roads of Boone County Kentucky and socialize at a distance. 12 teams competed by searching for clues and answering questions along the route, and 2 teams chose to just enjoy the scenery. The winners were Angie Taylor and Duncan Latta, running their 3rd rally with us. In second place were Mike and Stephanie Spatz, who are have become regulars. The full results are posted on the cincyscca.com website. The only downside was not being able to enjoy each other’s company while having a bite to eat and a drink or two, then debating the answers. Maybe next time.

The next rally is July 11. We move north to run “Middletown Madness”, with Jim Knepper as your Rally Master. We hope to start at Bob Evans and end at Applebee’s off Rt 122 at I75. Onsite registration and check in will start at 9:30, with a safety meeting at 10:15. First car out will follow the meeting at about 10:30. Registration at cincyscca.motorsportreg.com will open about 3 weeks before the event. You can also register now to receive an email notice when it is open.

RoadRally Report

“Social Distancing: Kentucky Rally Style” is planned for May 30. Registration for the event will be open within the next few days. Get out of the house and explore the beautiful hills of Kentucky. Compete with the other teams by answering questions and following challenging route instructions or choose the relaxing drive with explicit instructions and no questions.

The May rally is the annual Kentucky event and will start at Koni North America at 1961 International Way, Hebron, KY 41048. Onsite registration and check in will start at 9:30, with a safety meeting at 10:15. First car out will follow the meeting at about 10:30. With the current uncertainty, the endpoint will remain open at this time, pending opening of restaurants. Please register online if at all possible to limit contact on site. We will be adhering to whatever mandates are in effect at the time to provide maximum safety for all involved.

RoadRally Report

The April 25 rally has been cancelled – another victim of COVID19. I hope everyone is healthy and not going stir crazy. Mark the rest of these tentative dates on your calendar: May 30, July 11, August 29, October 3 (possibly the 10th) & November 7. Whether or not the events can be held will be decided (or determined by government mandates) on a case by case basis throughout the year. Meanwhile, gas is cheap, and you can stay separated from the general public while going for a drive. If you go exploring and find some cool roads, pass along the street names or any other information you can, and we’ll incorporate them into a future rally. Or lay out a course yourself and be a future Rally Master. Just use caution/gloves/etc. when filling your gas tank.

RoadRally Report

So, what exactly is a Road Rally?

It’s a competition on public roads… sure. But it’s a chance to enjoy the awesome roads the Tri-State has to offer. A chance to mingle at breakfast before setting out and mingle again (and argue about the questions) at the after party. It’s a chance to make new friends. It’s a chance to find your story… to find something you didn’t know was out there, to maybe go off course and have an adventure that you can look back on and laugh about. Just want to drive the roads we find with no competitive component. We’ve got you covered too. Please join us.

Mark these tentative dates on your calendar: April 25, May 30, July 11, August 29, October 3 & November 7. Rally Masters can choose from these dates (or suggest a new date). New Rally Masters are encouraged to join in and bring new roads and ideas to our group. Ample help is available to assist with set-up, so don’t be intimidated.

RoadRally Report

Happy New Year! Get ready for a new season of Road Rallies. There are still plenty of roads in the Tri-State area not yet explored. We will bring you some new ones and probably mix in some old favorites.

This season, along with our traditional routes & questions format, a foolproof drive (with mileages of turns and without questions) will be available for those wanting to enjoy the scenic routes we set up without the competitive aspect. This will be a Rally Trek set-up which is more akin to what car clubs tend to offer. Gather up your fellow car enthusiasts and come join us this season.

RoadRally Report

The final rally of the year brought out 8 teams on a beautiful fall day. First timers Angie Taylor and Duncan Latta brought home first place honors. Many Warren County cemeteries were visited, and the Little Miami River was crisscrossed multiple times. Complete results, as well as the final points standings, are available on the cincyscca.com website.

Beginning with the 2020 season. A foolproof drive (with mileages of turns and without questions) will be available for those wanting to enjoy the scenic routes we set up without the competitive aspect. We expect to offer 6 rallies in 2020, but scheduling is still in process. Check back after the first of the year for the dates to block out on your calendar!

We are always happy to hear any ideas you have for a fun drive. Contact me to volunteer or if you have questions.

Road Rally Report

The last rally of the season is Saturday, November 2. We will depart the Mason-Montgomery Road Frisch’s (right at the exit off I-71) around 10:30. This is a defined route event, with some cemetery stops to search for answers. Don’t be afraid – most answers can be found from your car. The weather looks to be dry and the leaves will be beautiful for this trek that includes several sections along the Little Miami River. There will be a special set of (foolproof) instructions without questions to allow those just looking for a nice drive, without the competition factor, to join us (reduced rate to cover insurance). Come enjoy this last outing and find your rally story.
